Funeral Services for Mr. Willie Lee "Bill" Lindsay Jr., age 78, of Ivanhoe will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Bonham under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Dana Coker will officiate with the assistance of Rev. Carroll Peterson. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Bill passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016.
Bill was born July 12, 1938, the son of Willie Lee Lindsay Sr. and Emma Jean Tate Lindsay. Bill attended high school in Seagoville, Texas. He married Mildred Phillips on October 10, 1964 at the New Hope Methodist Church. Bill had served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. For over 30 years, he worked for the Dallas Fire Department where he retired as a Lieutenant. Bill was an avid Rangers and Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed his hometown sports teams, especially the Lady Rebels. Bill enjoyed working in his shop, gardening, and taking care of the lawn. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, L. J., Bobby, and an infant brother; and sisters, Hazel, Helen, Martha, and Imogene.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mildred Lindsay of Ivanhoe; Son, Dr. Rodney Lindsay and wife Melissa of Lewisville; Daughter, Suzanne Person and husband Dr. David Person of San Antonio; Brother, Jerry Lindsay and wife Peggy of Texarkana; Grandchildren, Madison Person, Monroe Person, Mary-McKinley Person, Reid Lindsay, and Riley Lindsay; extended family and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
