William Neal Melton

William Neal Melton, 78, of Bonham, passed away Monday afternoon, January 31, 2022 at Woodlands Place Rehabilitation Suites in Denison, Texas.  According to his wishes, a cremation was held under the direction of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham.  Memorial services will be held at a 11:00 AM Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at Boyd Baptist Church.  Rev. Mike Allred will officiate

Neal was born Oct. 8, 1943 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Jack C. Melton and Gwendolyn Stewart Melton.  He was a 1961 graduate of Tascosa High School in Amarillo and received his Bachelors degree in Marketing from West Texas State University in 1966.  Neal married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Brown on Dec. 20, 1963 at the Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas.  He worked in commercial finance in Texas, Arizona, California and Georgia, retiring at the age of 59.  Following his retirement, the couple moved to Bonham to be closer to their sons and grandchildren.  Neal loved to hunt and fish and taking his sons with him was very special.  He enjoyed building birdhouses and sun catchers and selling them at the markets in McKinney and Wimberly.  He and Carolyn had a running battle of who could sell the most of their treasures at the sales.  However, more than the sell, Neal, a true people person, enjoyed visiting with his customers.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and making memories.  Neal was a member of Boyd Baptist Church in Bonham.   He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jean Benton and Jacquelyn "Jacque" Compton.

Neal leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Carolyn, of Bonham, TX; two sons, James Stuart Melton and wife, Kacie of The Colony, TX and William Christopher Melton and wife, Dawn of Anna, TX; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie, Britney, Justin, Brandee and Kaleb; 5 great grandchildren and a niece and nephew, Melissa Benton Miner and Kevin Compton; extended family and friends.
