Willard Cramer Johnson, Sr., 58, passed away on the 25th of August 2017, at his home in Bonham, TX. Visiting hours will be held at the Wise Funeral Chapel on Sunday, August 27, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Wise Funeral Home on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Bonham's Arledge Ridge Cemetery.
Willard was born in Bonham, on January 10, 1959, to Willard and Helen (West) Johnson. He graduated as valedictorian from Bonham High School in 1977 before earning his B.S. in Math, with a minor in physical science, from Stephen F. Austin University in 1983. Willard also received his M.Ed. and Administrative Certification from Stephen F. Austin in 1987 and 1988, respectively. He held a certification in Computer Literacy as well.
Devoted to his family and friends, Willard also touched the lives of countless middle and high school students across northeast Texas. He taught math in the Trinidad Independent School District (1983-1985) and at Westwood High School (1985-1989) and served as a principal in the Oakwood Independent School District from 1989 to 1992. He spent the last sixteen years of his career with the Trenton Independent School District, teaching math and computer technology and acting as a webmaster and test administrator. Beyond his work as an educator, Willard enjoyed farming, raising cattle and, most recently, getting to know his first grandchild.
Willard is survived by his mother, Helen Johnson; his wife, Connie Johnson; his son, Willard Cramer (Regan) Johnson, Jr.; and his grandson, Eli Cramer Johnson, all of Bonham, TX. He is also survived by his sister, Reba (Ben) Williams, of Fairview, TX; his brother, Billy (Luana) Johnson, of Kaufman, TX; his sister-in-law, Betsie Surratt, of Lindale, TX; his brother-in-law, Donnie (Vickie) Surratt, of Mt. Vernon, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Willard was preceded in death by his father, Willard Carmie, and his sister, Debra Johnson Romero.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed, in Willard's memory, to Linda Savage, Trenton High School, P.O. Box 5, Trenton, TX 75490. Donations will go toward a scholarship to benefit one of Trenton's academically successful graduating seniors.
