Funeral Services for Weldon Cary Bragg, 91 of Bonham will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie, Texas 4761 FM 1563, Commerce, Texas 75428 under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Pastor Oliver Mowat will officiate. Burial will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham. Weldon passed away on Monday night, December 7, 2015 at Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham, Texas.
Weldon was born on September 17, 1924, the son of David Edgar Bragg and Luna Gretelle Russell Bragg. Growing up, Weldon enjoyed hunting and became very good at it; he often spent hours with his brothers and friends roaming the woods on his Great Great Grandfather's property. He was a graduate of Bonham High School and went to Grayson College and Paris Junior College. Weldon was very proud and honored to serve his country during World War II in the 8th AF 384th Bomb Group 542 Sq. based in Grafton Underwood England, UK and Estres, France. He discovered his passion for aviation during the war. Weldon retired from the Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant. He married DuAnne McDonald on March 26, 1981 in Irving, Texas and shared 34 of the most fulfilling years of their lives together. Weldon was a member of Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie, Texas. His love of animals was great; he enjoyed raising cattle and horses. Weldon often enjoyed trail riding with his wife and friends. He was on the Bonham Airport Board. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Jackie Elaine Bragg, and his three brothers; Dan Hubert Bragg, Richard Russell Bragg, and James Edgar Bragg.
Weldon is survived by his wife, DuAnne Bragg of Bonham, Texas; Daughter, Julie Bragg Abston of Palestine, Texas; Sons, Thomas Weldon Bragg of Sherman, Texas, John Edgar Bragg of Arp, Texas, and Augustus "Auge" Eugene Smith of Bonham, Texas; Grandchildren, Chanté, Amber, Shannon, Alecia, Autumn, Leila, Abraham, Beren, Chuck, Cary, Bryant, Sam, Aaron, Andrew, Caleb, and Adriana; 21 Great Grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Whitlock, Russell Armstrong, Tommy Hope, Ron Glaser, Mark Stallings, and Jeff Glaser.
Memorials may be made to the Fannin County Children's Center or Fannin County Historical Museum.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, December 11, 2015 at Wise Funeral Home, 219 West Sam Rayburn Drive, Bonham, Texas 75418.
