Dr. Walter Lee Sisk, Jr.

Funeral services for Dr. Walter Lee Sisk Jr., 88, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Nov, 28, 2015 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Rev, Larry Melhart and Rev. Henry Shelton will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Dr. Walter passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 24, 2015 at his residence.

Walter was born Jan. 13, 1927 in Saginaw, Texas, the son of Walter Lee Sisk, Sr. and Ruby Ann Bennett Sisk. He was a graduate of Northside High School in Fort Worth and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Math and History in 1950 from East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1956 and interned at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco, Calif. Walter served in the US Navy from 1945-1946; the Texas National Guard, 1950-1953; and the US Army Medical Corps 1956-1960. He married Irene Brown on July 2, 1948 in Marshall, Texas. The couple moved to Bonham in 1961 where Dr. Walter joined M&S Clinic (1961-1995). In 1996 he became a member of the TexomaCare group where he remained until 2003 when he retired. He served as Chief of Staff of Northeast Medical Center for a number of years. He was a member of the AMA, TMA and the American Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Walter was also a member of the Rotary Club from 1961 until present and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was an ordained Deacon in the Baptist Church and taught Sunday School over 40 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Dr. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ervin Sisk.

Dr. Walter is survived by his wife, Irene Sisk of Bonham, Texas;
three sons, Dr. Dana Sisk and wife, Kay and Mike Sisk and wife, Eloise, all of Bonham, Texas, and Scott Sisk and wife, Gina of Wylie, Texas; one daughter, Suzanne Melhart and husband, Larry of Tyler, Texas; half-Brother, Cecil Sisk of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren, Jon Sisk, Matthew Sisk, Daniel Sisk, Jamey Sisk, David Sisk, Andrew Melhart, Amy Melhart, Trisha Melhart Cox and James Melhart; seven great grandchildren, Jack Sisk, Emily Sisk, Hunter Sisk, Hannah Sisk, Grayson Sisk, Abigail Melhart,and Caleb Melhart and
one great great grandson, Kaden Sisk

Pallbearers will be Jon Sisk, Jamey Sisk, Matthew Sisk, Daniel Sisk, James Melhart, Andrew Melhart, Jeff Cox and David Sisk.
