Virginia "Ginger" Carolyn Powell

Graveside services for Virginia Carolyn "Ginger" Powell, 73, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2020 in the Pavillion at Carson Cemetery, Ector, TX under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Chad Abbott, grandson, will officiate. Ginger passed away March 1, 2020 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She will lie in state at Wise Funeral Home from 8:00 AM till 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Ginger was born Oct. 14, 1946 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Harless Eugene Phillips and Vivian Lita Pearl Hopkins Phillips.  She attended Bonham High School and later received her nursing degree.  She worked as an LVN at Texoma Medical Center.  Ginger married Cecil Wayne Patton on Oct. 14, 1964 and he preceded her in death July 5, 1989.  She later married Allen Powell on Oct. 2, 1991.  She loved her grandchildren and her farm animals and cherished every moment she spent with them.  She was of the Baptist faith.  Ginger was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Jordan Abbott and Caleb Patton.

Ginger is survived by her sons, Jeffery Patton (Sherry) and Randy Patton (Cathie), all of Bonham, TX; daughter, Lisa Spindle (David) of Bonham; step children, Kevin Powell of Wharton, Tx and Carol Dutschke, of Bonham, TX; two brothers, Don Phillips (Pam) of Bonham and Larry Phillips (Debra) of Dodd City, TX; two sisters, Patti Stone (Talmage) of Richardson, TX and Judy Phillips (Rocky) of Bonham; grandchildren, Josh, Shane, Levi and Dokoda Patton, Chad and Matt Abbott, Colby, Cameron and Parker Patton; great grandchildren, Cooper, Grayson, and Corbin Patton, Kaytlyn Abbott, Addi Abbott, Cooper and Jackson Abbott, and Addie and Emma Patton; numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
