Vincent Earl Blust, 98, of Bonham, Texas passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 4:10 a.m. and went to join the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. A wonderful family man, Mr. Blust always put his loved ones first and dealt with everyone who knew him with the utmost patience and gentleness.
Vincent was born in Yates City, Illinois on August 31, 1915 to parents James Clyde Blust and Edith Clark Blust. He survived all his siblings including brothers Merrill and Harlan Blust and sister Mary Blust Talley.
Mr. Blust married Dorothy Jacobus of Rapatee, Illinois on October 20, 1938 in Missouri and the couple celebrated 63 years of marriage before Dorothy passed away in August 2002. Mr. Blust worked for Caterpillar Tractor for over 30 years, first in Peoria and then in Denver, Colorado as Traffic Clerk. When he retired at the age of 58, he and Dorothy moved to Texas where they both lovingly worked in a nephew's print shop. Later when son Nicholas and wife Barbara began a printing business, BurCly Press, in Plano in the early 1980s, Vincent and Dorothy devoted themselves to helping the company be successful over a period of 25 years. Many people all over Plano got to know and love Vincent when he would deliver printing or pick up print supplies.
Vincent was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy, his precious daughter Vincie Lou Blust Bower, an infant grandson Ryan Bower, and an infant great-granddaughter Amanda McBride.
Survivors include his son, Nicholas Blust and wife Barbara; granddaughter Sherri Short and husband Jeff; granddaughter Debra Campbell and husband Kevin; grandson Shad Blust and wife Rachel; granddaughter Courtney Keeler and husband Sean; granddaughter Amy Dendy and husband Matt; granddaughter Leslie Labios and husband Robin; and granddaughter Kendal Yoakum and husband Travis.
Mr. Blust is also survived by several great-grandchildren: Joshua McBride, Sean McBride, Ryan Campbell, Sydney Campbell, Lily Blust, Jolie Campbell, Adeline Blust, Jackson Dendy, Carson Dendy and Dylan Keeler.
Vincent welcomed a great-great grandson, Wyatt McBride, five years ago and the family celebrated this event with 5 generations pictured in one photograph. Mr. Blust was adored by several nieces and nephews who survive him also: Marilyn Garrett, Carolyn Boehmer, Liz Johnson, and Jim Blust, all of Illinois; Dean Proctor, Phil Proctor, Greg Proctor, Carl Proctor, Stanley Proctor, and Jane Wilson, all of Texas, and Bob Talley of Colorado. One special niece, Sharon Blust Jordan of California, passed away less than 24 hours before Vincent. Numerous great-nieces and nephews survive Mr. Blust also.
Vincent held a lifetime friendship with his first cousin, Harold Taylor for over 90 years. Mr. Taylor and wife Skip reside in California. Mr. Blust's sister-in-law, Mary Jacobus Herrick of Peoria, Illinois also survives him, along with her children, Sally Christy, Rodney Herrick, and Mary Lee Nunley.
Vincent loved his canine friends, Eli and Norman Blust and his feline friend Fluffy, whom he shared his son's home with in Bonham for the past seven years.
