Undene Mozelle "Dene" Widner Smith

Graveside Funeral services for Undene "Dene" Smith, age 96, who died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 in Tyler will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015, at 3:30 at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted by her nephew, Vincent Doan of Dallas. Her great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will be at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Friday, December 4 from 5-7 pm for visitation.
Undene was born March 27, 1919, in Durant, Oklahoma to Mona Lee Speck and James Widner. She attended the Durant public schools and enjoyed playing guard on the girl's high school basketball team. She married James Warner "Dub" Smith on October 18, 1935, in Bonham. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1984. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wendell and James Lee. Dub and Undene had one son, James Kenneth Smith. Undene was a faithful member of Northside Church of Christ in Bonham for many years. She was past president of The Bonham Woman's Club and active in several quilting groups, and a member of the Bonham Woman's Hospital Auxiliary (pink lady) for a number of years. In 2000 she moved to Tyler to be closer to her son and family.
Survivors include her son, James Kenneth Smith (Reba Roland) of Tyler, two grandchildren Angela Dene Smith Billings (Jeff) and Timothy Roland Smith (Jennifer Bates) both of Tyler, great grandchildren, Blake Billings of Tyler, Trent Smith of Dallas, Clayton Smith and Lindsey Smith of Tyler; several nieces and nephews.
