IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Troy Wilburn
Wilson
August 8, 1955 – December 1, 2025
Troy Wilburn Wilson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend who graced our lives with his laughter and warmth, departed this world on December 1, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on August 8, 1955, in McKinney, Texas, Troy’s journey through life was marked by the love he carried for his family and friends, all of which formed the memories that will last a lifetime.
Troy was a steadfast worker in the oil and gas industry, a realm where he poured not only his labor but also his heart, a place that mirrored his tenacity and spirit. Yet, beyond the rigors of work, it was in the quiet moments of joy—riding his beloved Harley, the wind tugging at his sleeves, while the open road lay ahead—that his spirit truly soared. Troy was as much a man of leisure as he was of labor, spending countless sun-soaked days fishing in Galveston, casting lines into shimmering waters and sharing stories that echoed like the waves crashing against the shore.
His heart swelled with pride when donning the colors of the Dallas Cowboys or cheering for the Texas Rangers, a passion that bonded him with friends and family alike.
Troy’s role as a night watchman at Trenton Elementary School painted him not only as a guardian of property but as a beloved figure in his community. His gentle conversations with children as they walked to school, always ready with a smile and a kind word, made him a beacon of encouragement in their youthful lives. He savored mentorship, taking his little buddy Easton Smith under his wing, guiding him through the influences of childhood with patience and understanding.
Family was the cornerstone of Troy’s life. He relished every moment spent with those he loved, especially at the rodeo—a tradition that brought excitement and laughter into their lives. The barn, filled with the sights and sounds of show pigs, created memories that would linger long after the echoes faded. Troy’s spirit came alive as he sat casually among them, basking in the sheer delight of what a quiet moment can bring.
A highlight was when his daughter would cook him her chicken and dumplings, a recipe that tasted of home and love. And how could one forget his loyal dog, Linus, whose companionship brought comfort to Troy’s heart, solidifying the warmth that filled their home?
Amongst the treasure troves of memories, one stands out as a testament to his lighthearted nature—when the dock unexpectedly gave way beneath him, Misty, and Gary, sending them into fits of laughter amidst the chaos.
On December 6, 2025, friends and family will gather to celebrate Troy's life at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, paving the way for a heartfelt celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Both will take place at this haven of remembrance.
