Stirling was a man of faith, and his beliefs were a cornerstone of his existence. His quiet strength was rooted in his spiritual life, and he found solace and guidance in his religious beliefs.

Stirling is survived by his only child, daughter, Holli Williams and her husband Richard, grandson, Morgan Williams, twin brother, Steven McPherson, and brother, Stanley McPherson. He is preceded in death by wife, Jane McPherson, parents, Bobby and Yvette McPherson, and sister, Jenice Leslie.
