Sarah Janette Hicks, "Jan" beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 9, 2016. Her devoted husband Billy John Hicks of nearly sixty years was with her at her time of death.
Born on March 1, 1938 in Ladonia, Texas, she was the daughter of Numan and Bertha Rattan. Jan and Billy were married on September 14, 1956 and moved to Bonham where they raised their four daughters and son. Jan devoted her time to her family and serving the Lord. They were active members of 7th and Main Baptist Church and enjoyed cheering for the Bonham Warriors.
Jan and Billy moved to Coppell in 1996 where they were members of the local Baptist Church. At the church, Jan was a preschool teacher for several years, touching and influencing the lives of many children. Jan loved playing Bunco, Keno and spending time with her family. She was an excellent cook and even published her own cookbook for her family and friends.
Survived by her husband Billy John Hicks of Coppell, daughter Sonya Younts and son-in-law John "Darryl" Younts of Flower Mound, daughter Cindy Brown and son-in-law Mike Brown of Rowlett, daughter Jan Werth and son-in-law Nick Werth of Garland and daughter Janay Hunt and son-in-law Brad Hunt of Coppell. Grandchildren Casey Churchwell, Nicholas John Werth, Juliana Hunt and John Thomas Hunt and three great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Numan and Bertha Rattan and her beloved son John Hicks.
Pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Casey Churchwell, Brad Hunt, Nick Werth, Nicholas Werth and John Younts.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Willow Wild Cemetery 7th St. and Hwy 121 in Bonham, Texas
