SARAH ELLEN CARMICHAEL
Sarah Ellen Carmichael passed away on July 28, 2011 in Austin, Texas. She was born in Bonham, Texas on January 3, 1921 the daughter of James and Marguerite Simmons Carmichael. She graduated from Bonham High School in 1938, Austin College in 1942 and earned a Master of Education Degree from SMU in 1952. Sarah taught in Bonham High School, Maple lawn Elementary, North Dallas High School and was a member of the first faculty at Bryan Adams High School where she was a Teacher, Dean and Counselor. She retired in 1985 with 41 years of service with DISD.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Marguerite James and husband Buddy, Commerce, Texas. She is survived by her sister Mary Jim Carmichael McDonald and husband George, Austin, Texas, niece Kit McDonald Weiss, nephews John James, Donald James and Robert McDonald, cousin Caramae Simmons and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will start at 1:00 pm on August 1, 2011 at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Burial will be at Willow Wild Cemetery, Bonham. The Rev. Brad Dardaganian, Pastor First Presbyterian Church Bonham, will officiate.
