Samuel Lee Bogar Sr.

Samuel Lee Bogar Sr. left this earth on July 21st, 2024, and he entered the gates of Heaven where he joined his Heavenly Father for eternity. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.

Samuel was born March 6, 1938 to Clifford Bogar Sr. and Willie Vance, in Bonham, TX. Samuel graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He then went to Prairieview College where he graduated ROTC, and joined the United States Army in June 1963. After his service to the military, Samuel went to work for the Texas Highway Department and dedicated himself to 40 years of service and retired. Samuel was a faithful member of Bradford Chapel A.M.E. serving as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, and many other duties to honor the Lord.

Samuel had many hobbies that included, watching the Dallas Cowboys, working crossword puzzles, reading a book, and watching a good James Bond movie. He was a faithful dedicated man to his family, and enjoyed his home life.

Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Bogar and Willie Vance, brothers, Clifford Bogar Jr., and Robert Bogar.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Bogar, daughter, Tammy Clement and husband Kenneth, sons, Samuel L. Bogar Jr. and wife Willie Jean, Wallace R. Bogar, brothers, Howard Bogar and wife Faye, Dwight Bogar, sister, Esther Askew,  grandchildren, Dequess Polk, Natalya Milton and husband Dante, Zamayia Elisher, Chasity Wright, great-grandchildren, Dequedence Polk, Dequezep Polk, Inaya Taylor, Ivan Traylor and Ivana Traylor, Serenity Simmons and Mecca Milton. Samuel will also be missed dearly by all of his nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service is Saturday, July 27, 2024 @11:00am at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the visitation Friday, July 26, 2024 at Wise Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm.  Pallbearers will be TeQwan Jones, Whitney Jones, Tony Ross, John Evans, Nigal Palmer, Anthony Phea, and Alvis Dunlap.
