Memorial services for Mr. Sammy Dale Sandlin, age 70, of Bonham, formerly of Paris, Texas, will be held 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Coker Mathews Funeral Chapel in Greenville, Texas. Sammy passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham. Local arrangements are under the care of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas.
Sammy was born July 16, 1943 in Greenville, Texas, the son of James Howard Sandlin and Nellie Faye Cummings Sandlin. He was a 1961 graduate of Greenville High School and joined the United States Marine Corps serving honorably from 1962-1964. While stationed in California, Sammy met and later married Jenn Young in Santa Ana, California on July 1, 1967. Together they owned and operated the Kwik Kar Lube and Tune in Paris, Texas from 1988-2013. Sammy was a Program Manager for L3 Communications, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the American Right of Way Association and enjoyed motorcycles, camping and bar-b-cues with his friends and family. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jackie Sandlin.
He is survived by his wife, Jenn Sandlin of Bonham, Texas; son, Jason Dale Sandlin and wife, Molly of Keller, Texas; daughters, Tammy D'An Gatlin and husband Rodney of Azle, Texas and Amy Carol Sandlin of Bonham, Texas; sisters, Shirley Flippin and husband Rex of Sulphur Springs,Texas and Debbie Perez of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jordan, Caleb and Ethan Sandlin; Rylie, Sydney and Brody Gatlin.
