Graveside services for Ruth Imogene Wilson, 87, of Bonham, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 in Carson Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Plunk of Grace Community Assembly of God in Flower Mound, Texas will officiate. Ruth passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 24, 2016 at her residence.
Ruth was born April 13, 1928 in Ceredo, West Virginia, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Maynard and Lucy Dixon Maynard. She attended C-K High School in Kenova, West Virginia where she participated as a majorette. Ruth married Rev. Gene Calvin Wilson on April 13, 1946 in Raceland, Kentucky. She served with the Children's Church Ministry, was church Secretary for many years and also served as personal secretary to her husband. Ruth enjoyed oil painting and playing games with her grandsons and great grandsons. Ruth was a great and loving mother of three wonderful girls. Ruth was a Girl Scout Leader and an Avon saleslady with numerous awards. The couple moved to Bonham in 2003. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Andy Maynard, Jr. and two sisters, Alfreda Neal and Margaret VanHoose.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 69 years, Rev. Gene C. Wilson of Bonham, Texas; three daughters, Karetha McGeehon and husband, Rick of Keller, Texas, and twins, Gay Cookman and husband, Noel of Lewisville, Texas and Kay Raiden and husband, Gaylon of Bonham, Texas;
five grandsons, Brent Dalton, Steven Mangus, Derrell Mangus, Zack Cookman and Andy Cookman; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
