Funeral services for Ruth Ward Brown, 93, of Bonham, will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Carl Dye will officiate. Burial will follow in Arledge Ridge Cemetery. Ruth passed away Wednesday night, March 9, 2011 at Heritage Manor of Canton.
Ruth was born October 13, 1917 in Cunningham, Lamar Co., Texas, the daughter of Edward Wesley Stevenson and Hulda Elizabeth Williams Stevenson. She married Alvin William Ward who preceded her in death. She later married Virgil N. Brown, Jan. 8, 1983, and he preceded her in death, Aug. 20, 1997. Ruth began her career at the age of 15, working for Bonham Cotton Mill and Denison Cotton Mill for 43 years. She later worked for Wal-Mart several years before retiring on Feb. 14, 1986. Ruth was a member of Northside Church of Christ and enjoyed working in her yard. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bryan Stevenson and Elvin Stevenson and one sister, Ida Mae Gill.

7 Grandchildren, Jeff Fulp, Terri Brown, Tim Brown, Greg Allen, Debbie Wheeler, Tracey Wharton and Angela Massey
18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tim Brown, Jeff Fulp, Greg Allen, Damon Allen, Josh Mahon, Walker Wharton, Kyle Griffin and Joe Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Templeton, Ron Templeton, Stan Baker, Clifford Shaw and Gene Harvey.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday night.
