Rudy Emil Meyers

Graveside Services for Rudy Emil Meyers, age 90, of Bonham, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Owens Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Father Robin Smith will officiate. Rudy passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Wilson N Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas.

Rudy was born July 29, 1931, in Beeville, Texas, the son of Emil Meyers and Dora Mae Woodward Meyers. He joined the United States Army at the age of 16; eager to serve his country he lied about his age. Rudy worked on nuclear weapons during his time in the Army. He retired ranking as a Chief Warrant Officer. Rudy enjoyed traveling. He especially liked cruises to Alaska. Rudy was extremely proud of his granddaughter, Christine, who earned her medical degree. Rudy is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

He is survived by his dear friend, Beverly Rainbolt of Ivanhoe, Texas; former wife, Dorothy Meyers of Chicago, Illinois; son, David Meyers of Chicago, Illinois; daughters, Joyce Herres of Chicago, Illinois and Loyce Palumbo of California; and granddaughter, Dr. Christine Clark, M.D.
