Roy, "Pop" was born Feb. 26, 1925 in Windom, Texas, the son of Virgil Harmon Lakey and Bessie Lee Dillard Lakey. He was a graduate of Windom High School and a US Navy veteran of WWII (1944-1946) serving aboard the USS Ordronaux. Roy married Betty Davis, Dec. 21, 1950 in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the AFLCIO and worked for General Dynamics (now Lockheed-Martin) for 32 years. Roy was a trustee for the Ravenna Community Center and a member of Ravenna Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed nothing more than being on the lake in the early morning. Roy also enjoyed a friendly game of canasta or dominoes. He loved working with his hands, whether it was building something for his grandkids or building his and Betty's retirement home. Roy planted one of the best gardens around.
