Ronald "Ron" Matthews

Memorial services with military honors for Ronald Moman "Ron" Matthews ,  77, of Bonham will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro Mark Posey and Lori Massey will officiate.  Ron passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 8, 2021 at Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center in McKinney, Texas.

Ron was born May 29, 1943 in Grand Prairie, Texas, the son of Willie Moman "Curley" Matthews and JoLena Boone Matthews.  He was a 1961 graduate of Bonham High School and attended Tarrant County College.  Ron faithfully served his country in the US Air Force.   He married Bettye Edwards on November 27, 1970.  Ron was a member of First Baptist Church in Bonham and was involved with numerous church activities.  He was a real estate agent and worked for United Country Realty and Pat Fouriner at FMI Realty.   He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Peggy Scott.

Ron leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 50 years, Bettye Matthews of Bonham, TX; three sons, Scott Matthews and Kevin Matthews, both of Bonham, TX and John Matthews (Stacy) of Howe, TX; daughter, Kammy Bentley of Frisco, TX; brother, Billy Jack Matthews (Faye) of Ravenna, TX and 4 grandchildren, Hannah Matthews, Llela Abernathy, Ava Abernathy, and Bronson Smith; extended family and friends.
