Funeral services for Mrs. Romie Lee Mendenhall, age 97, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Steve Walker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone, Texas. Mrs. Mendenhall passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Remarkable Healthcare of Carrollton, Texas. She resided at the Woodmore Assisted Living in Bonham for over 11 years and leaves behind many dear friends.
Mrs. Mendenhall was born on January 29, 1920 in the Elwood Community of Fannin County, Texas, the first born child of Henry Anderson and Nancy Lowrey Anderson. She married Clifford Mendenhall in Bonham, Texas in 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1994. She was a member of the Bonham Woman's Club and Trinity Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School classes at Telephone Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. She also owned and operated the Mendenhall Drapery in Bonham for 19 years before retirement. She enjoyed hand quilting baby quilts and was known lovingly as the "Baby Quilt Lady"! Mrs. Mendenhall was a very talented artist and her artwork is still serving as a beacon for all to enjoy. She also enjoyed writing poems and even wrote books about her past.
She was preceded in death by her brother Dale Anderson and sister Violet Anderson Berry.

Daughters: Nell Mendenhall Stehr and husband Wayne of Norman, Oklahoma
Donna Mendenhall Carlisle and husband Bill of Coppell, Texas
Brother: Wade and wife Mary Anderson of Dallas
Sister: Ruth Anderson Vanlandingham of Norman, Oklahoma
Grandchildren: Patti Sangster, Karla and Brent Brinkley, Cindy and David Harvey, Kristie and Thomas Neumann
Step Grandchildren: Chris and Tina Zimmer, Cami Parnell, Andy and Lynette Stehr and Adam Stehr
Great Grandchildren: Kaleigh and Chase Talbott, Paige Todd, Taylor and Cody Stom, Matt Pruett and Lorie Meeks and one great-great granddaughter
Pallbearers will be David Harvey, Thomas Neumann, Chase Talbott, Keenan Hons, Matt Pruett, and Adam Stehr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Forest Grove Cemetery Association
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Chapel from 1:00 PM until service time on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017.
