Robert Doyle
Welborn
Jan 4, 1954 — Oct 26, 2026
Trenton, TX
Robert Doyle Welborn, known to family and friends simply as Robert, passed away on October 26, 2026, in Trenton, Texas, at the age of 72. Arrangements are under the loving care of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.
Robert was born on January 4, 1954, in Farmersville, Texas, to Harmon and Flossie Welborn and he carried the values of his hometown with him throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1972, and he built a life marked by steady work, deep devotion, and quiet strength. In 1987, he made his home in Trenton, Texas, where he would spend the rest of his years surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
For 33 years, Robert worked for Fisher Controls as a machinist, where he was known for his dependable nature, strong work ethic, and the pride he took in doing a job well. His long career reflected the same character that defined his life outside of work, as he was a man who could always be counted on and who carried himself with humility and integrity.
Above all else, Robert was devoted to his family. He was the greatest husband and father to his three daughters, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He never missed a game when his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were playing sports, and some of the fondest memories of his life came from cheering them on from the sidelines. His support was constant, his presence unwavering, and his love for his girls was evident in everything he did. He was also a beloved Poppy to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Robert shared a deep and lasting love with his wife, Vickie, who was the love of his life. Their bond was built on devotion, companionship, and a lifetime of shared memories. Those who knew Robert recognized him as a sweet and kind man, one who never uttered a bad word about anyone. He was gentle in spirit and loving in every sense of the word, and he left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him. His kindness was quiet but powerful, and his gentle nature made him a source of comfort and stability to those around him.
He enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys and followed them with enthusiasm, finding joy in the traditions and excitement of the game. Yet his greatest happiness always came from the people he loved most. Whether spending time with family, sharing in everyday moments, or simply being present for the ones who mattered to him, Robert lived a life centered on love, loyalty, and devotion. He leaves behind a legacy of tenderness, faithfulness, and enduring family bonds that will continue to be cherished by all who knew him. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Flossie Welborn and brothers, Eddie and Gary Welborn.
He is survived by wife of 51 years, Vickie Welborn, daughters, Andrea Welborn, Kerri Farber (Mike), Jennifer Rains (Andy), grandchildren, Malena Farber, Tristan Farber (Bri), Mikayla Wigley (Dalton), Jaidyn Melichar (Logan), Skyler Khan (Hassam), Jaren Melichar, Kaleb Melichar (Tracie aka Gracie), Kelby Melichar (Emma), and great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Lukas, Niko, Parker, Oaklynn, Landon, Liam, and Yousef.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kurt Taylor officiating. The family will receive guests for visitation from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at the funeral home.
Tristan Farber, Jaren Melichar, Kaleb Melicher, Kelby Melicher, Logan Crawford, and Seth Chambers will have the honor of being pallbearers. He will be laid to rest at Burns Cemetery in Trenton.
