Robert Martin (Bob) Raiden, 87, of Honey Grove, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas. Born, October 20, 1924 in Honey Grove to Willie Martin Raiden and Lillie Mae Yeager Raiden, he lived most of his life in the area.
Bob graduated from Ladonia High School in 1942, and was a World War II Army veteran serving in Nuremberg, Germany during the Nazi War Trials in 1945-46.
He enjoyed working with his hands, having built many projects over the years. Bob built the family home near Bugtussle, Texas following his retirement in 1979 after 25 years as a sheet metal mechanic with the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Melba Joy Blevins Raiden (2001), his parents, brother, William Dwight (W.D.) Raiden, sisters, Alma Lee and Elizabeth, and granddaughter, Stefanie.
He is survived by two daughters, Joy Darlene Braga (Kit) and Nancy Annette Titus (Eric), four sons, Gaylon Gene Raiden (Kay), Jim Martin Raiden (Denise), David Alan Raiden (Annette) and Robert Daniel Raiden (Linda), 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one niece, Gaila Raiden-Davis, and one nephew, Dwight Raiden.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday night, Aug. 10, 2012 at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas. Funeral services for Bob will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Lowell Howard will officiate. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Oakwood Cemetery, Honey Grove, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Raiden, Samuel Titus, Michael Raiden, Andy Gaskill, Randy Grimes and Preston Morgan.
