Bob Nunnelee, 82, a prominent Bonham businessman, passed away on January 24, 2018.
Bob was born September 28, 1935 in Bonham, Texas to Robert "Brad" Nunnelee and Hazel "Tootie" Nunnelee. He graduated from Bonham High School and attended North Texas State University. He returned to Bonham and owned and operated several businesses throughout the years including the Dairy Mart, a used car lot, Minute Mart, Bob's Friendly Wash, and Nunnelee Properties, which included managing several commercial and residential units. He was also part owner of Bonham State Bank and served on its board of directors.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman. In his youth, he spent summers at the Chautauqua Grounds in Boulder, CO, which instilled an active lifestyle in him. Bob lifted weights, flew planes, hunted, skied, competed and won trophies in drag racing, bicycle rallies, marathons, Ironman competitions, golfing, and tennis tournaments.
Bob was also very committed to the Kiwanis Club of Bonham. He almost always attended weekly meetings and would frequently volunteer to give programs on various topics, usually Boulder related that included slideshows. He also collected parking money for the Bonham Trade Days and helped with the annual fireworks show on July 4th.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Nunnelee. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-laws, Bob and Cici Nunnelee of Lewisville; Rusty and Shelley Nunnelee of McKinney; sister-in-law, Jane Nunnelee of Dallas; grandchild, Christie Nunnelee and great-grandchild, Peyton Nunnelee of Bedford.
Funeral Services for Bob Nunnelee will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Wise Funeral Home Chapel, 219 W Sam Rayburn Dr., Bonham, TX 75418. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM until service time. An online guestbook is available at www.wisefuneralhome.com
