Memorial Services for Robert Edward Dorough, 95 of Bonham will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Pastor Dyan Diets will officiate with the assistance of Pastor Liz Talbert. Robert passed quietly on the morning of January 7, 2016 at the Woodmoore Assisted Living in Bonham, Texas.
Robert was born in Bonham, Texas on July 27, 1920. He was the youngest of two sons born to Charles Deets Dorough and Maude Scott Dorough. He graduated from Bonham High School. After attending university classes, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on July 6, 1942, where he served the remainder of World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Martha Ester Haynie on November 20, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Bonham. Together they raised four children; Scott, Julie, David, and Lee. Robert sold real estate with his father, in Fannin County after the war. He served as the District Clerk of Fannin County during the early 1960's, and finally retiring from the United States Postal service after 20 years of service. He loved to spend time with family and friends and enjoyed working his cattle ranch which he purchased with the money he saved while serving as a U.S. Marine. He will truly be missed. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and Brother, Dwight.
Robert is survived by his children and their family; Scott and Lori Dorough; Julie and Tom Presenza; David and Jana Dorough; and Lee and Lizabeth Dorough; Grandchildren, Anna, Garrett, Andrew, Madison, and Megan.
