Bro. Bob Posey finally got his greatest wish… to get out of this place and go be with Jesus.

Robert "Bob" Dee Posey (Sr.) died Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Clyde Cosper Veterans Home in Bonham, TX after a brief illness.

Robert Dee Posey (Sr), "Bob" was born to Tom and Gladys (Sterling) Posey in Tom, Oklahoma September 1, 1933. He lived in Tom and attended school in Broken Bow, OK till 9'th grade, when he dropped out of school to help provide for his 9 other siblings.

Bob met and married A. Roseann Meeks of Lockesburg, Arkansas in 1952. To this union, three children were born: Vicki (1955), Robert (1957) and Charlotte (1961). His lack of education was a motivator. He attended Decatur Baptist College where he took high school classes in order to be eligible to attend the college for the higher education. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education. Bob entered the United States Air Force June 1955. He was an Education and Training Tech. He served one year in Korea (after the war) where he educated Korean children in English. He was Honorably Discharged June 14, 1963. Bob got the call to preach while he was in Korea. When he returned stateside and after his discharge from the Airforce, he moved his family to Wake Village, TX where he pastored Kenwood Baptist Church of Wake Village, TX. His marriage to Roseann ended in a divorce in 1967.

Bob met and married the love of his life, Sharon Ann Sanders, on October 18, 1968. They moved to Marietta, TX where he pastored the First Baptist Church of Marietta for several years. Bob and Sharon welcomed Mark into the family in 1971. A short time later, they moved to Ladonia, TX where Bob was pastor at First Baptist Church Ladonia. He went back to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters Degree of Religious Education in December 1972. From there, Bob was called to be Director of Missions in Tipton, OK. He was there approximately 1 year before he was to pastor the First Baptist Church of Bogata in 1976. They were there twelve and a half years. His next church call was Trinity Baptist Church, Bonham, TX. They were there 10 years. It was during this time that Sharon passed away, September 27, 1996.

Bob married Gwen Nipper Leath of Bogata, TX on March 20, 1997. The next few years, he pastored at Buffalo Valley in Oklahoma and College Avenue Baptist Church in Clarksville, TX. He retired in 2015 and they moved to their home in Bogata, TX. Gwen passed away December 5, 2016. Bob stayed in Bogata several more years.

He enjoyed going to the Senior Center and playing Bingo! Tuesday's and Thursday's. There he met his special friend, Cleavie Coffin of Bogata. Even after he moved to Bonham, she brightened his days by calling him every morning.

In all, his career as a minister spanned over 60 years. His last sermon being about a month ago at Clyde Cosper VA Home. He was pleased they let him preach for over an hour and no one left the room! His hobbies included ping-pong, fishing, hunting, and golfing and writing. He loved to write kid stories –

Pedro & amp; Boomerang being his characters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gladys Posey; 5 brothers: Harold, Raymond, George, Charlie, and Johnny; 3 sisters: Wilmanell, Coreen, and Loreen.
