Funeral Services for Robert Chapman, 88 of Bonham will be held at 3:00 P.M. December 29, 2015 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery. Robert passed away on Wednesday afternoon, December 23, 2015 at The Woodmoore Assisted living.
Robert was born November 20, 1927, the son of Benjamin Franklin Chapman and Mary Magdalene McGenigan. He was a graduate of Hazard High School in Hazard, Kentucky. Robert married Wanda Lee Caldwell on December 7, 1950. Robert was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. Robert was a member of the Brothers of VFW. While still in High School, Robert served in the coal mines with his father until he joined the Army Air Corp. He served during the last six days of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He retired at Sheppard Air Force Base in 1971, after serving 26 years in the military achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 44 years, Wanda Lee Chapman, his brother, Benjamin Franklin Chapman Jr., and two sisters, Ruby Grigsby and Nora Doyle.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert Gene Chapman Jr., and wife Robin Rena of Navarre, Florida; daughters, Carol Sue White and husband Alvin Lynn of Sherman, Texas and Lynn Rutherford of Lubbock, Texas; Grandchildren, Jeff White, Tim White, Joshua Cooley, Samantha Chapman, and Morgan Chapman; Great Grandchildren, Ashton, Dyllan, Lexi, and Lucas; Numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Neal, Tim White, Jeff White, and Joshua Cooley.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. on Monday, December 28, 2015.
