Private family graveside services for Rita Jean Tollifson, 81, of Sherman, will be held at Willow Wild Monday, June 30, 2014 under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rita passed away Saturday, June 29, 2014 at the Homestead of Sherman, Texas
Rita was born March 14, 1933 in Bonham, the daughter of R.L. and Winnie Lawrence. She graduated from Bonham High School in 1950 and attended North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, now known as UNT in 1954. She taught schools in Lubbock, TX and Wisconsin. She was Foster Grandmother In Texoma Program in Sherman from 1998 to 2003.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Martina Akins of Howe.
Rita is survived by her
Daughter, Laurie Tollifson of Collinsville
Sons: Lance Tollifson of Sherman
Craig Tollifson and wife, Nicole of California
Sister: Jody McMillan of Bonham
Brother: Ben Lawrence and wife, Carolyn of Bonham
Brother- in-law: Murry Akins of Howe
Several grandchildren, foster grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
