Military memorial inurnment services for Richard Mason, age 89 of Augusta, Georgia will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas, Texas, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Richard passed away on November 18, 2018. He was born on February 15, 1929 at 1017 Miller Street to Robert Emmett Mason & Evelina Curry.

Richard was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after serving his country from 1952-1956. He attended Virginian Union University in Richmond, VA where on 04/25/1958 he was pinned a member of the Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and in 1959 was graduated with a B.A. in Sociology. On May 25 ^th 1963 Richard married Martina Huggins in New Haven, CT and from that day forward, the two were one. With the support of his wife, Richard continued his education by obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Human Relations from New York University in 1968 and in 1976 he received his second master's degree, a Masters of Public Administration. He held many professional certifications in healthcare administration from Yale University, N.Y.U and others. The strength of his character and his professional renowned enabled him to open doors for many friends and family throughout his lifetime.

Richard's death was preceded by his parents, Robert Emmett Mason and Evelina Vicars; Brothers- James Mason, Robert Emmett Mason III, Benjamin Curry Mason and after nearly 50 years of marriage, his wife Martina Huggins Mason.

He is survived by a host of loving friends and family members both near and far. He was the patriarch of our family.
