Funeral Services for Richard Elliott Jr., age 65 of Bonham, Texas will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM at New Home Baptist Church in Bonham, Texas, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Gene Reddick. Interment will follow at Fannin Memorial Gardens in Bonham, Texas. Richard passed away on February 20, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Bonham, Texas.
Richard was born March 7, 1952 in Bonham, Texas to Richard Louis Elliott Sr. and Charlie Mae Pointer Elliott. One of his proudest accomplishments was his service in the United States Navy. Richard received his GED and continued his schooling at Grayson County Community College where he studied Communications. On February 14, 1996, he married his darling wife, Vanessa Rena Stewart in Bonham, Texas. They were married for 22 years before his passing. Richard was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a hardworking, God fearing man. Richard worked for the VA for 30 years until his retirement. He was a man of respect with unwavering morals. Richard, most of all, loved his family. He will be most ardently missed. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Louis Elliott Sr. and Charlie Mae Elliott and Daughter, Makesha Elliott.
Richard is survived by his wife, Vanessa Elliott of Bonham, Texas; daughters, Amelia Jones of Sherman, Texas and Shenae Watson and husband Jason of Sherman, Texas; sons, Richard Deshawn Elliott of Bonham, Texas and Damien Aldolphus Stewart and Tanaka Brown of Bonham, Texas; grandchildren, Aleshion Jones, Braeden Stewart, Genesis Watson, and Rhythm Watson; sisters, Donna Smith of Bonham, Texas and Mildred Dickerson and husband Donald of Sherman, Texas; brothers, John Charles Elliott and wife Sherry of Bonham, Texas and Kevin Elliott and wife Stormie of Bonham, Texas; Mother-in-Law, Lillie Stewart of Bonham, Texas; Sisters-in-Law, Ethel Stewart of Bonham, Texas and Cassandra Stewart of Bonham, Texas; Brother-in-Law, Melvin Stewart and wife Nikita of Bonham, Texas; Aunt Mary Hunter of California; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
