A private graveside service for Clifford Ray Edwards, 87, of Gober, Texas will be held in Gober Cemetery, Gober, Texas under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Edwards will officiate. Ray passed away Thursday morning, April 9, 2020 at his residence. He will lie in state at Wise Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 5 PM Saturday, April 11, 2020. A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Bonham, Texas at a later date.
Ray was born July 30, 1932 in McKinney, Texas, the son of James Albert Edwards and Beulah Mae Allcorn Edwards. He was a graduate of McKinney High School and served his country in the US Army. Ray married Linda Lou Inman on June 12, 1959 in McKinney. He was the Tax Assessor for McKinney ISD for 30 years. Ray had a great passion for farming and ranching and spent 45 years fulfilling this dream in both Collin and Fannin Counties. He was also a Texas real estate broker. Ray was a former member of First Christian Church of Princeton where he served as the song leader, a Bible study teacher, an Elder and Board member. After moving to Fannin County, he became a member of First Christian Church in Bonham where he served as an Elder. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Doyle Wayne Edwards; a sister, Addie Mann and granddaughter, Courtney Farrell.
Ray is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Edwards of Gober, TX; son, Kyle Edwards and fiancé, Tracy Nemoto of Gunter, TX; daughter, Teresa Farrell and husband, Jim of Nacogdoches, TX; brother, Bobby Kenneth Edwards and wife, Betty of McKinney, TX; sister, Gwendolyn Beachboard of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Blake Farrell, Tyler Edwards (Hilary), Morgan Farrell (Frank Weaver, fiancé), Amanda Brent (Hunter), and Megan Russell (Dalton); step granddaughters, Kiana and Tara Nemoto; great grandsons, Slate Edwards and Kayden Ray Weaver; great granddaughter, Emmie Lou Russell; sister-in-law, Jean Edwards of Brashear, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Blake Farrell, Tyler Edwards, Hunter Brent, Dalton Russell and Frank Weaver.
