Bonham

Cremation Arrangements for Randy Lee Apple, age 65, of Bonham, Texas are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Randy passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, lovingly surrounded by family at his residence in Bonham, Texas.

Randy was born on July 7, 1956, in Greeley, Colorado, the son of Mervin and Patricia Apple. He grew up as a rough and tumble farm boy that loved driving tractors, building things and anything else that let him be outside in nature. He loved fishing, hiking, nature photography and just breathing in the fresh air. Randy married Linda Kay Watkins on July 4,1979 in a beautiful rustic church in the Colorado mountains. They were married for 43 years before his passing and were the picture of soul mates. He spent as much time as he could in the mountains and was likened to a mountain goat by his wife due to his ability to run up mountains that looked impossible to reach. Randy had a deep passion for helping and protecting people, which made him a great fit for his job at the Grayson County Sheriff's department where he loved his work and made many deep and lasting friendships. Randy was a man that would do anything in his power for anyone in need, he would literally give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family with a fierceness and spent his life working to provide, protect and nurture them with his every breath. He made sure that they never had a doubt that they were loved unconditionally. Randy will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Anne Ternes, and sister, Debbie Heroy.

Randy is survived by his son, Shane Apple of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Brandy Amos and husband Jeffrey of Leonard, Texas and Misty Everett and husband Douglas of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; loving daughter-in-law, Christina Engel of Midlothian, Texas; brother, Roger Apple of Colorado; sister, Kathy Apple Martin of Colorado; brother-in-law, Mike Heroy; 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.

The family requests prayers and privacy during this difficult time. Those wishing to make donations in Randy's honor may donate to Texoma Back the Badge Foundation in his memory. The website for donation is https://www.texomabackthebadge.com
