Randall Wayne Pack, known to most as Randy—sometimes simply “R” or “RP”—of Wolfe City, Texas, passed away at his home on March 15, 2026, at the age of 64 after metastatic prostate cancer, choosing comfort care over aggressive treatment. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.  

Randy was born in Dallas, Texas, and attended Wolfe City Independent School District throughout his youth. He graduated in 1979 and has maintained close relationships with many of his classmates over the years, never leaving the area. Along with his father, whom he called “Chief,” he worked on both small and large engines but ultimately chose to make his career as an outdoor power equipment salesman. To his children, he was known for his outdoor cooking, his gumbo, and his sweet tooth—ice cream and chocolate chip cookies (when the dough made it to the oven). To his friends, he was the class clown, always ready with a one-liner, and the kind of man who would tinker with whatever machine was in front of him, determined to figure it out his own way—whether by skill or sheer refusal to call in an expert—a trait he carried with him throughout his life.

Randy lived his life like someone who never intended to embody “old”—hard, fast, and mostly on his own terms. He was a complex character: stubborn, charismatic, and prone to lengthy conversations, so much so that meeting Randy often meant hearing a story or an opinion, whether you asked for it or not. In recent years, he was an active member of the Gober Community Club and enjoyed the local camaraderie that came with being involved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jimmy, JP” Pack and Mildred (Green) Pack of Wolfe City, Texas, and his grandparents, Floyd and Mona Pack of Wolfe City, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Hoeltge) Pack of Gober, Texas; his children, Sarah (Pack) Carrillo and husband Raul Carrillo of Colleyville, Texas; Reid Pack and wife Cheyanne (Lake) Pack of Wolfe City, Texas; Matthew Pack and wife Paige (Skinner) Pack of Sulphur Springs, Texas; and Jacob Pack and wife Sarah (Spencer) Pack of Rockwall, Texas. He is also survived by his stepsons, Alex Page and wife Ashley, and Michael Page and wife Amanda. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Caleb and Jacob Carrillo; Benton and Sutton Pack; Lilly Page and Addison Edmunds; and Lydia Quinn Pack, expected in June 2026. Randy is also survived by his sisters, Sherry (Pack) Sheffield and husband Billy Sheffield of Cash, Texas, their sons Jody and Justin Sheffield; and Melisa (Pack) Durham and husband Derrick Durham of Flower Mound, Texas, along with their children Brent Durham and Lindsey (Durham) Hatter, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.

As Randy wished to be cremated, a come-and-go memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Gober Community Center (4840 FM 68, Gober, Texas 75443) from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by cash or check to the Gober Community Club, c/o Treasurer Ruby Polston, 2234 FM 68, Leonard, Texas 75452.

Randy was never meant to be ordinary—and he wasn’t. He lived hard, loved imperfectly, and left behind stories you just can't make up. However you remember him, you'll remember him.
