Funeral services for Peggy Lavelle Simer, 86, of Bonham, will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2021 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Cary Kinnaird will officiate. A private burial will be held in Duplex Cemetery. Peggy passed away Wednesday morning, June 2, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born July 13, 1934 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Ellis L. Jenkins and Bertha Elizabeth Wilson Jenkins. She met and married Billy Joe Simer, the love of her life, on March 28, 1952 in Bonham, Texas. Her favorite job of all time was raising her six children while traveling the world with Billy as he served in the US Air Force and US Army. After his retirement, they returned to Fannin County and built the family home where Peggy lived until her passing. She was very crafty and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, crocheting, coloring, and baking. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together with Billy. Peggy was a Tupperware distributor and attended beauty school. She loved butterflies, George Strait and the song, "Wings of a Snow White Dove" which Billy often sang to her. Peggy loved to square dance and she and Billy danced in many competitions. A member of Corinth Baptist Church, Peggy was strong in her faith with our Lord and Savior. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years on Oct. 28, 2015 and her parents.
Left to cherish her memories are her three sons, Jerry Simer of Topanga, CA, Joey Simer of Ravenna, TX, and James Simer and wife, Shamsha of Euless, TX; three daughters, Belinda Duke and husband, Russel of Ravenna, TX, Barbara Via and husband, Bill of Denison, TX and Bridget Kaylor of Wichita Falls, TX; adopted daughter, Christie Ragsdale and husband, Billy of Iowa Park, TX; 10 grandchildren, Annabelle, Henry, Tiffany, Aiman, Soni, Sherjeel, Nianaya, Shelby, Janet and Breanne; nine great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jaime Murphey, Jerry Murphey, Carl Kaylor, Chandon Priddy, Chris Rivas and Billy Ragsdale.
