Peggy Joyce Hilburn

Homegoing funeral services for Peggy Joyce Hilburn will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2020 in the Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, Texas.  Rev. Eddie Owens will officiate.  Burial will follow in the New Harmony Cemetery in Ladonia, Texas.

Peggy was born in Ladonia, Texas on December 5, 1949 to Idle Joyce Posey and Charles Hilburn.  She attended Washington High School and graduated from Bonham High School.  She relocated to Los Angeles California after graduation and took a job in the Registrar's office at the University of Southern California, where she worked for several years.  Peggy returned to Bonham where she tended her mother and grandmother for many years until their deaths.  Prior to becoming disabled, she was committed to her passion of volunteering at the food pantry at Calvary Baptist Church.  Peggy relocated to Ontario, Oregon to live with her uncle and aunt when she encountered serious medical issues and remained there until she departed this life on June 10, 2020.

Peggy was a book of knowledge and had a memory like an elephant.  If you existed, she knew you.  If it happened, she knew it.  If you wanted to, you asked her.  If you knew her, you loved her.  She had the strangest sleeping pattern of anyone I know, just ask her friends who she woke up at the ungodly hours of the night and morning.  She never met a stranger, she simply loved people. Once she knew your name you were subjected to her sense of humor, just ask her care providers.  She was kindhearted and stood ready to help anyone in need, despite her stubbornness.  She will be truly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her mother Idle Joyce Posey, grandmother Nettie Ree McKinney, dad Charles Hilburn, sister Gloria Thompson, brother Gary Hilburn.

Those left to cherish her memory; Billy Clyde Carter (unlce) o Ontario, OR; Betty Jean Carter (aunt) of Ontario, OR; Linda Lawson (Rev Joseph) sister of Greenville, TX; Rhonda Pinkard, sister of DeSoto, TX; Kenneth Hilburn, brother of DeSoto, TX; Brenda Daniels (Clabon) of Red Oak, TX; Dayna Carter of Redondo Beach; CA; Billunta Carter of Hirakata City, JAPAN; Linda Sue (Sue Baby) Hilburn of Denver, CO and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, June 19, 2020.
