Graveside services for Pearl Evans, age 95 of Bonham, TX will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Dodd City Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Officiating will be her great-grandson Chad Abbott. Pearl passed away on January 20, 2018.

She was born April 9, 1922 in Fannin County, Texas to Charles Doss Hopkins and Lona Jones Hopkins. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Eugene Evans, parents, Charles Doss Hopkins & Lona Jones Hopkins and Brothers, Howard and Leeman Hopkins and sister, Velvie Spiller, one Great Grandson, Jordan Abbott, one grandson, Caleb Patton.

Pearl was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a nurse for Allen Memorial Hospital and later at the Sherman Community Hospital. She was fondly remembered by her family as a great seamstress for her girls. Pearl taught art in Florida in the 80's and enjoyed oil painting and her flower gardens.

Surviving are her daughters, Ginger Powell and Allen of Bonham, Patti Stone and Talmage of Richardson, Judy Phillips and Rocky of Bonham; sons, Don and Pam Phillips of Bonham, Larry and Debra Phillips of Dodd City; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren

Besides being a mother, Pearl was known as "Nanny" to most. Nanny is also survived by three family members that were near and dear to her, and by her side almost daily.

Ginger Powell, was not only her loving daughter, but her best friend. Ginger was Nanny's daily caregiver. Nanny always knew that Ginger would be there to care for her, and to see that her daily needs were taken care of whether it be at Woodmoore, the hospital, nursing home, or in her own home where she spent her final days. They had a bond like no other. The two of them are so much alike, it made listening to their conversations fun. Nanny was very blessed to have Ginger by her side.

Lisa Spindle, her granddaughter. Lisa was a caregiver to Nanny, and Nanny always looked forward to Lisa's daily visits. Their time together wasn't measured in hours, but in quality. Nanny always knew that Lisa would be there for her, and would spend the time it took to see that she was happy, comfortable, and that her needs were met. Lisa made sure Nanny always had her favorite, new fuzzy socks and perfume. Nanny was forever grateful for Lisa, who was also named after her. Lisa will carry on Nanny's green thumb, and her love for plants.

Parker Patton, great granddaughter. Parker loved her Nanny like no other. The two of them were so blessed to have one another and often enjoyed the time they shared together. There have been many photographs of Nanny since Parker was born, but not many without Parker sitting in Nanny's lap or laying next to her in the hospital bed, sometimes with both of them napping, side by side. They shared a love of coloring, painting, flowers, stuffed animals, cruises, and Florida. Nanny would always paint Parker's finger nails and add glitter, or as nanny would call it, "pixie dust".
