Nellie May (Penny) Bowman

Graveside Inurnment Services for Nellie May (Penny) Bowman, age 94 of Ravenna, TX will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Dallas‐ Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Richard Patrick.

Nellie passed away on July 18, 2018. She was born October 16, 1923 in Hurley, New Mexico to Alvin George Thornton & Bessie Pero Thornton.   Penny proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. While still enlisted she married Robert Heard Bowman on February 03, 1945 in Pensacola, FL. She was an avid bowler, participating competitively.

Penny was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert Heard Bowman on May 11, 1980; parents, Alvin George Thornton & Bessie Pero Thornton; son, Dennis Michael Bowman; brothers, William Thornton, Harry Thornton, George Thornton and Richard Thornton; sisters, Virginia Thornton Schott and Elizabeth Thornton Bowman.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy Dawson and husband David of Ravenna, TX; two grandchildren, Robert A. Dawson and Traci of Saginaw, TX and Holly L. Lawrence and husband Kent of Burleson, TX; four great‐grandchildren, David T. Dawson, Kevin R. Lawrence, Briar D. Wood and wife Ariana and Braddock P. Dawson; two great‐great grandchildren, Carter James Wood and Addison Marie Wood.
