Funeral Services for Nelda Jayne Smith, age 76, of Gober will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ricky Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow at Gober Cemetery. Nelda passed away Monday, September 5, 2016.
She was born January 22, 1940 to Luther Campbell and Opal Cummings Campbell. Nelda was a graduate of Weatherford High School and Weatherford College. She married John David Smith on April 15, 1959. She was the pianist at Gober Baptist Church for over 40 years, a Special Education teacher's aide, and was involved with Special Olympics. She loved to read, garden, and care for her kids and animals. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Royce and Donald Campbell; and son, Kyle Smith.
Nelda is survived by husband, John David Smith of Gober; sons, Kent Smith of Gober, Kendall Smith of Beaumont, TX and Klay Smith of Gober; and daughter, Kashandra Smith Briggs and husband, Paul of Austin, TX.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Wise Funeral Home.
