Funeral services for Charles Michael "Mike" Shannon, age 59, of Ector, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Boyd Baptist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Morris Cook and Rev. Lyn Holly will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Carson Cemetery in Ector, TX. Mike passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Following the graveside service, the family will have a reception at the Ector ISD cafeteria.
Mike was born September 6, 1952 in Dallas, Texas, son of Charles Edward Shannon and Charlotte Carnes Shannon. He was a graduate of Skyline High School in Dallas, and married Karen Morris in 1974. Mike was a US Army retired 1st Sgt. serving with the Rangers. During his Army career, he was the recipient of numerous medals and honors including the de Fleury medal, a distinguished engineering award. He began his career with the Fannin County Appraisal district in 1994 and was a Registered Professional Appraiser, Certified Chief Appraiser, and was recognized in the Top of Texas, Texas Association of Assessing Officers, Texas Association of Appraisal Districts and an Honorary Member of Kappa Kappa Psi. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, causing trouble and 'stealing' babies. He was a member of Ector Baptist Church. Mike was preceded in death by his father.

Daughter, Serena McRae and husband, Andrew of Maryland, Mother, Charlotte Shannon of Dallas, TX, Brother, Stephen Shannon and wife, Jana of Rowlett, TX, Grandson, Patrick McRae of Maryland, Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Hensley, Mark Kinnaird, Mike Jones, Jimmy Hubbard, Chris Littrell, Mark Allen Simpson, John Heberling and Josh Holly. Honorary pallbearers will be Tammy Rivers, Wendy Armstrong, Dawn Rheuame, Judy Simpson, Jeanne Collier, Tammy Pettie Jean Hensley and Dana Dillow.
The family requests memorials to the Ector Baptist Church, the Lung Cancer Association or the Reba Ranch House.
