Michael Allen Shank

Funeral services for Staff Sgt. Michael Allen Shank, age 31 of Bonham will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Boyd Baptist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, TX. Rev. Normous Free, Rev. Lyn Holly and Rev. Richard Danner will officiate. Michael was killed Tuesday, November 28, 2006 when his Humvee ran over a land mine in Afghanistan.

Michael was born June 10, 1975 in Fairbault, Minnesota, son of Thomas M. Shank and Jettye Lynn Starr Colbert. He was a graduate of Dodd City High School and joined the Army ten years ago. Michael always wanted to be a soldier and planned to make the Army his career. He spent a years in Iraq and had been stationed in Germany for the past three years prior to going to Afghanistan earlier this year. Michael was an MP (military police) and was looking forward to submitting his paperwork to become a drill sergeant. Michael married Brandy Nicole Guffee, April 18, 1997 at the Congregational Methodist Church in Bonham. He was a member of Boyd Baptist Church.
