Graveside services with military honors for James Michael Armstrong, 60, of Sherman, Texas, formerly of Bonham, Texas, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 in Grove Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Mr. Larry Don Harrington Jr. will officiate the service. Michael passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2022 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
Michael was born September 17, 1961 in Bonham, Texas, the son of William James Armstrong and Cathy June Tarpley Armstrong. He was a 1980 graduate of Sam Rayburn High School. Following graduation, he worked for Southwest Pump Co. in Bonham prior to joining the US Navy. After his military service, Michael worked for the Collin County Sheriff's office for a number of years before going to work for Walmart in Denison. He was a manager in the food department and retired in January of 2022 after 20 years of dedicated service. Michael married Michele Elise Grounds in February of 2000 in Bonham. He attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bonham. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stephen Mark Armstrong (April 2019),
Michael leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Michele Armstrong of Sherman, Texas; sons, Joshua Ham of Sherman and Tyler Armstrong of West Melbourne, Florida; daughter, Alicea Froelich of West Melbourne, Florida; brothers, Kenneth Neal Armstrong and wife, Sherri, of Westminster, Texas, and Keith Armstrong and wife, Colleen of Georgia; sisters, Christie Murden and husband, Stephen, of Bonham, and Carla Johnson of Whitewright, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary Ham and Audrey Ham; extended family and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Ham, Thomas Williams Mason Long, IV, Travis Boren, Buddy Sales, Warren Richards and Corey Armstrong.
Memorials may be made to Arthurs Acres Animal Sanctuary, 89 Ahrens Rd., Parksville, NY 12768.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday night. Family and friends will meet at Wise Funeral Home at 10:30 AM Friday morning and go in procession to Grove Hill Cemetery.
