Maurice Walker was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 21, 2024. The following day he would have celebrated 67 years of marriage with the love of his life, Lorene. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.
Maurice was born at home in Desert, TX on October 28, 1937 to James and Rassie Walker. Maurice grew up in Windom and at the age of thirteen the family moved to Dallas. He attended South Oak Cliff High School. He married Lorene VanHooser on March 22, 1957. Maurice and Lorene moved back to Fannin County in 1995. Dedication and hard work was at the very center of Maurice's life. He worked for Horn Blueprint Company and Midwest Surveying Service as a sales manager. Maurice enjoyed working with cattle, hunting, and cheering his grandchildren on at their sporting events. He was a very kind and generous man, having never met a stranger. Maurice will be fondly remembered for his love of the great outdoors, outgoing personality, and devotion to his wife and family.
He is preceded in death by parents, James and Rassie Walker, brother, Harold Walker, and great grandson, Nash Walker.
Those left to cherish his memory, wife of 67 years, Lorene Walker, sons, Steve Walker and wife Leesa, Russell Walker and wife Michele, sister, Jimmie Turbyfill, grandchildren, Ryan Walker (Ashley), Jamie Kelley (Arthur), Trent Walker (Jerica), 9 great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Monday, March 25, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be the following day at the same location at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Blue Ridge, TX.
