Mary Beth Dyer, affectionately known as Beth to her loved ones, passed away on January 20, 2026, at Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas. Born on August 3, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, Beth's radiant spirit and innate kindness touched all who knew her throughout her 70 years of life. Arrangements are under the loving care of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX
A consummate professional, Beth's career as a cartographer allowed her to combine her meticulous nature with her love for the world's diverse landscapes. Her work as a map maker not only charted paths for others to follow but also reflected her own journey of discovery. Despite her professional achievements, Beth often said her greatest accomplishment was her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her family. She loved being able to take care of her grandchildren before they started school.
Beth's love for animals was legendary, and her heart was as open to the wild creatures of the earth as it was to her family and friends. She was known to feed wild raccoons with such enthusiasm that they, in turn, showed an almost human fondness for her. Beth's love for animals led to a humorous and unforgettable family adventure when she overfed buffalo on a safari drive-through, resulting in a comical encounter that not only damaged their vehicle but also inspired a State Farm commercial.
Her zest for life was apparent in her passion for the arts. Attending numerous musicals and being a dedicated fan of Barry Manilow, she shared countless musical memories with her oldest son Scott III. In her younger years, Beth's wanderlust took her across the globe with her parents, instilling in her a deep appreciation for the myriad cultures.
Beth's love for the ocean was another facet of her multifaceted personality. She found solace in and enjoyed beach outings where she could feed the seagulls.
Beth will be deeply missed by her husband of 50 years, Scott and sons. She taught them how to live in the moment and to cherish every minute together. They are asking in lieu of flowers to make a donation to operationkindness.org. It seems fitting to give to cause that meant so much to Beth.
She is survived by husband, Harold "Scott" Dyer Jr., sons, Harold "Scott" Dyer III and wife, Tanya, Aaron Russell Dyer and wife, Karissa, grandchildren, Harold "Scott" Dyer IV, Emma Claire Dyer, Emerson Russell Dyer, brother, David Henderson (Rhonda), brother-in-law, Dewayne Dyer (Robin), sister-in-law, Brenda Carver, nephews, Ryan Henderson (Alisha), Dustin Dyer (Michelle), Devin Dyer, Dylan Dyer, Johnny Carver, niece, Renee Plante (Rejean), and 4 great- nieces, and 3 great-nephews.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 27th at Wise Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service is Wednesday, January 28th at 1pm with Rodney Sprayberry officiating. Burial will follow at Carson Cemetery in Ector. Please join the family to celebrate the remarkable life of Beth.
