Funeral services for Marilyn Jean Thomas Chaney, 67, of Bonham, will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Donnie Flippo will officiate. Burial will follow in Arledge Ridge Cemetery. Marilyn passed away Thursday morning, July 28, 2016 surrounded by her family at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Marilyn was born February 27, 1949 in Freeport, Texas, the daughter of Gladys Daye Reaves and Woodrow "Woody" Wilcox. She married Jerry Don Chaney on March 5, 1992 in Bonham, Texas. Marilyn was a strong, loving, independent, outspoken woman who was loved by all. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and her cats. She was a retired correctional officer with the TDCJ, Buster Cole Unit in Bonham. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold Clay and Roger Clay and three sisters, Jane Mire, Earlene Od'Neal and Geraldine Adams.
Marilyn is survived by her Husband, Jerry Don Chaney of Bonham, Texas; Sons, John David Flippo of Alabaster, Alabama and Brandon Chaney (Lacey) of Bonham, Texas; Daughters, Kristi Hughes (Tim) of Cleveland, Texas, Jessica Flippo of Plano, Texas and Lara Beth Benkhemila (Walid) of Sherman, Texas; Brother, Wayne Wilcox (Dot) of Thibodaux, Louisiana; Sisters, Bonnie Boyce (Bob) of Poplarville, Mississippi and Marcia Daniels (Jon) of Bonham, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Shane Callahan, Cole Chaney, Jarred McClure, Brandon Chaney, Scott Frazier, Tim Hughes, Jon Daniels and Sam Fox.
