Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Katheryne Gerner, age 84, of Bonham, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Bonham. Pastor Dyan Dietz, Rev. Roy Spore and Dr. Thomas O. Brumett will officiate. Services are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham. Burial will follow in the Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham. She passed away on Saturday evening, September 19, 2015 at TMC Bonham.
Marie was born on November 15, 1930 in Verona, Texas, the daughter of Edward Evert Henry and Beulah Conger Johnson. She attended schools in Verona and Blue Ridge and received her LVN degree from Baylor Hospital of Dallas. She married Leonard Arthur Gerner ("Coach" to many) on June 25, 1964 in Arlington, Texas at the Arlington Methodist Church. Marie worked as a nurse at Baylor Hospital in Dallas for a number of years and after marriage, they moved to Bonham and she worked in the schools and pre-school at the First United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of the church where she cooked for so many families and events including the Rotary Club and for the Thanksgiving meal served by the church for many years. Her wonderful hugs would warm your heart in an instant and her sweet smile would light up a room. Marie was preceded in death by her brother; Edward Evert Henry, Jr.

Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends
