Marian was born July 22, 1924 in Tacoma, Washington to Frank Rave and Bertha Lockwood. She attended Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington and married Richard Earl Baker in 1941. Together she and her husband built houses, from the ground up, they labored together and created masterpieces, a craft that was later taught and respected by her grandson, whom she assisted with the building of his own home. Marian was also a missionary, many times she and Richard traveled to Arizona, to the Apache Nation Indian Reservation to spread the word of God and bring food and clothing to those in need. She was also a master seamstress. Throughout her life she created many different outfits that were appreciated by those who wore them. She made quilts and blankets, anything you can think of, Marian could make it. She created many different crafts, including her saw blade paintings and her key chains which she made from unused items friends and family would give to her. Marian was an artist at heart. She had five children but was a mother to many, having fostered more than 19 children. She is survived by as many as 125 Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren. Marion left a legacy behind that has impacted many generations and will continue to do so for many years to come.
