Margaret "Peggy" Elvington

Margaret (Peggy) Elvington passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday morning, June 24, 2022, at the age of 65.

Peggy was born August 4, 1956, in Irving, Texas, the daughter of Charles Maurice Pierce and Margaret Esther Thayer Pierce.

On May 20th, 1978, Peggy married her lifelong companion, Billy Wayne Elvington in Bonham, Texas.  they moved to Commerce, TX in 1985.

She proceeded to graduate from Texas A&M Commerce with a degree in English and Photography in 1981 and a master's degree for Curriculum and Instruction in Secondary Education in 1990. Peggy was an inspiration to thousands of students as a Photography, Journalism, Yearbook, and English teacher at Rockwall High School. She loved working with her students and was always the "cool" teacher that they felt comfortable confiding in.  She retired in May 2013 after 23 years of teaching.

Peggy's loyalty and love for her family were unmatched. Everyday strangers were also always met with compassion and support. Her lasting legacy will be the impact she left on her students, family and grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, William Pierce, brother, Robert Thayer Pierce, sister, Barbara Ruffner and grandson Gabriel Ell

Peggy forever remembered by her husband of 44 years, Billy Wayne Elvington of Commerce, TX; a daughter, Jessica Rose Elvington of Commerce, TX, a son, William Pierce Elvington (Lauren); a brother, Gordon C. Pierce (Kathy) of Georgetown, TX; 2 grandchildren, Aiden Elvington, and Owen Elvington; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A memorial will be held July 30th, 2022, at 10 am at the Wise Funeral Home Chapel 219 W. Sam Rayburn Dr. Bonham, Texas 75418 and a reception to follow at 11:15 at Neighbors Place.
