Maisie Southard

Maisie Southard passed away July 3, 2015 at her residence. A private family graveside inurnment will be held at Fall Creek Cemetery.

Maisie was born August 18, 1926 in Lubbock Texas, the daughter of James Harold Lee and Mae Noble Lee. She was active in the Methodist Church where she enjoyed many duties including, Sunday School Teacher, Secretary of Treasurer, Finance Chair, Director and Teacher of Vacation Bible School, Past President and life member of the United Methodist Women, and United Council of Churches. She recently was a member of the United Methodist Church in Whitewright, Texas. Other than her spiritual memberships, Maisie was also a member of the Ector Friendship Quilting Club where, being the second oldest member, she perfected her quilting talents and built many cherished relationships. She was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving in all positions. Maisie married Jerrell Henslee in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1971. She later married Bill Southard in 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1996. Maisie is also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Joe Lee and Noble Lee, and daughter, Sheryln Henslee Dodd.

She is survived by her son, Winn Henslee and wife Susan; daughter, Jerrelene Henslee Anderson and husband Brian; grandchildren, Jerrell Winn Henslee III, Angela McClure, Derek Todd Smith, Debbie Nied McGuire, David Nied; 15 great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Heart to Heart Hospice, Northeast Medical Home Health and Homestead of Sherman.
