Louis Phillip Bickel, son of Charles Russell and Gladys Hill Bickel, was born May 10, 1929 in Ponca City, OK, and died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 on his farm near Ivanhoe in Fannin County, TX. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Bickel and Bill Barnhart, nephew, William Barnhart, and stepson, Thomas Gregory Wilson
Louis is survived by wife, Huetta Freeman Bickel, son and wife, Louis P. Bickel, Jr. and Alaine Almond Bickel, daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Bickel and Paul Kern, Rebecca Bickel and James Armentrout, stepsons and wives, Robert and Erin Wilson amd James and Gemma Wilson, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild, 2 nieces and 1 nephew and several cousins.
Louis graduated from John's Military Academy in 1947; received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1951; USMC 1951 – 1953, G. Co., 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regt., in Korea in 1952. After receiving his LLB from SMU in 1956, he was a civil trial lawyer in Dallas until his retirement in 2000.
Louis' cremated remains will be interred at a later date in a private service at Bettes Cemetery which is surrounded by his beloved farm.
