Lesley Nugene Blanton

Funeral services for Lesley Nugene Blanton, 82, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Mr. Gene Blanton and Rev. Henry Shelton will officiate. Burial will follow in Hampton Cemetery in the Edhube Community of Fannin County, Texas. Lesley passed away late Monday night, Oct. 31, 2016 t Seven Oaks Nursing & Rehab in Bonham.
Lesley was born Feb. 23, 1934 in Hopkins County, Texas, the son of John Royal Blanton and Ida Isabell Clark Blanton. He attended Bonham schools. Lesley married Ora Inez Sharp on Dec. 23, 1955 at the Parker Grove Baptist Church in Grayson County, Texas. She preceded him in death May 21, 2011. He farmed until the age of 19 when he went to work for the Bonham Cotton Mill. He was there for 17 years before going to work for Western Auto for 2 years. On June 12, 1972, Lesley began his career with Bonham State Bank which lasted 30 years. He retired on June 12, 2002. A true people person, Lesley could be seen all around the bank and all over town delivering messages and paperwork. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Bonham. Lesley enjoyed farming, mowing, taking care of his yard and watching the Texas Rangers on TV. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold J. Blanton (killed in WWII at the age of 21) and Wesley Eugene Blanton, five sisters, Glorene Wright, Margaret Hill, Bonnie Kremling, Mildred Abbott and Helen Vinson.
Lesley is survived by his Son, Lesley Paul Blanton of Denison, Texas; two Daughters, Rita Owens and husband, Jimmy of Bonham, Texas and Mary Sutherland and Russell Cain of Wilmer, Texas;
Grandchildren and Great Grandchilden, Chris Spost (Nick) and daughter, Logan K. Spost, Casy Blanton (Kelsey) and children, Jacyn Blanton, Silas C. Blanton, and Jett Royal Blanton, Chad Blanton and son, Clayton Blanton,Jason Owens (Daisy) and children, Nehemiah Owens, Gideon Owens and Malachi Owens,Jeff Owens,Beth Perry (Luke) and children, Serenity Fallon and Aiden Meneses,
Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
