Lee Allen, Jr.

February 18, 1946 — August 27, 2015

After a courageous battle with cancer, Millard Lee Allen, Jr. passed away on August 27, 2015 in Arlington, Texas at the age of 69. Lee is survived by his wife, Jan Allen of Arlington, Texas; his son, Clint Allen and his wife, Sarah Allen, of Houston, Texas and numerous cousins.

Lee was born in 1946 in Henderson, Texas to Millard Lee Allen and Melba Abigail McKee Allen, who predeceased him. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1964. He married Jan Standifer in 1992. Lee was a mortician, a bank officer, owner of Callender Mortgage Services for the last 17 years, and in recent years, also became a purveyor of his wife Jan's homemade salsa, "Bugtussle Burn".

Lee was a kind and generous man who would do anything for his family and friends. Lee also loved animals, especially his dear German Shepherds and his horse Jake, and he volunteered his time with German Shepherd rescue groups. Lee was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Bonham, Texas, where he was active on many boards through the years. He was also a member of the Rotary Club and especially enjoyed working with the Special Olympics. Lee was a master Mason and member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521.

A funeral service is scheduled at 2:00 PM Monday, August 31, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, Bonham, Texas with burial to follow at Willow Wild Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church. Pastor Dyan Dietz will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lee's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Methodist Children's Home, Good Shepherd German Shepherd Rescue, or DFW German Shepherd Rescue.
